Libbey Owens Ford used Harold S Haller & Company's Six Sigma type methods to accelerate the product development cycle time. The development time for new glass products decreased from 5 to 7 years to 2 to 18 months which added $160 million to annual sales.

Haller & Company consultants have used Six Sigma type methods for over 30 years especially on product development projects and scale-up of these products to production. In 1980 Dr. Haller was retained by Libbey Owens Ford to train the technical staff in the use Haller & Company's computerized methods for designing experiments, developing process models using multiple correlation analysis, and determining new product formulations via multiple property optimization. Several new products including EZ-Kooltm glass were developed using these computerized statistical methods combined with Haller & Company's sequential experimental strategy.
